In the city of Ladakh, people live in the most modest conditions. Many have never gone to see a dentist before. Often there isn’t one available, and if there is, they simply can’t afford the treatment. Their level of suffering is respectively high.
PROVIDING TARGETED AND LONG-TERM HELP LOCALLY
Ladakh Medical Aid gGmbH is a charity organization that supports the health and especially the dental health of the inhabitants of the remote regions in the Himalayan mountains.
Thanks to donations, dedication and commitment, and numerous voluntary helpers, we have been able to build a dental clinic there. Despite the icy cold climate, patients are receiving treament all year long. Our clinic is located at an altitude of 3,500 meters, and is run by four dentists.
We dispatch volunteer dentists as well as medical professionals from other fields and medical aids to Choglamsar. They provide free support in emergency situations, but they also do essential educational work. The youngest inhabitants are already learning how optimal dental hygiene with the toothbrush works!
